چکیده

Background: Human cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the major complication of viral infection in immunocompromised patients. This opportunistic associated with high morbidity and mortality transplanted recipients. Objectives: The present study aimed to determine CMV burden assess clinical outcome liver recipients reactivated at Nemazi Hospital, Shiraz, Iran. Methods: retrospective examined 657 patients who underwent transplantation during 2014 - 2017 identify infection, morbidity, rates. To this end, medical records such were reviewed, their rejection/survival rates analyzed. Accordingly, was diagnosed by Taq-Man real-time PCR assays. Results: In study, 151 (23%) had reactivation least one year after transplantation. Viremic a between 300 738790 copies/mL. 41 persons (6.2%) died, 58 transplant (8.8%) rejection experience up operation. Among dead patients, 21 20 cases without CMV-reactivation, respectively. results demonstrated that rate significantly higher CMV-infected than non-CMV-infected counterparts. contrast, graft survival not different two groups (P ≤ 0.05). Conclusions: can serve as significant predictor LT

604Risk Factors for Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Reactivation in CMV-seropositive Liver Transplant Patients

Background. CMV causes significant morbidity in liver transplant (LT) recipients. Despite pre-existing CMV immunity, CMV-seropositive LT patients remain at risk of CMV reactivation. We aimed to investigate variables associated with CMV reactivation in CMV-seropositive LT patients. Methods. A retrospective study of CMV-seropositive LT recipients in 2007-2013 who did not receive anti-CMV prophyla...

Impact of graft failure on patient survival on dialysis: a comparison of transplant-naive and post-graft failure mortality rates.

BACKGROUND While the number of patients returning to dialysis after graft failure (GF) is increasing steadily, the impact of a failed kidney transplant on mortality among dialysis patients has not been studied well. METHODS Data from the Canadian Organ Replacement Register were utilized to examine the outcomes of an incident cohort of patients (n = 25,632) initiating renal replacement therapy...

Oral Valganciclovir as a Preemptive Treatment for Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Infection in CMV-Seropositive Liver Transplant Recipients

OBJECTIVES Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infections in liver transplant recipients are common and result in significant morbidity and mortality. Intravenous ganciclovir or oral valganciclovir are the standard treatment for CMV infection. The present study investigates the efficacy of oral valganciclovir in CMV infection as a preemptive treatment after liver transplantation. METHODS Between 2012 and 2...

Comparable graft and patient survival in lean and obese liver transplant recipients.

Obesity is among the great health problems facing Americans today. More than 32% of the US population is considered obese on the basis of a body mass index (BMI) exceeding 30 kg/m(2) . Obesity increases the risk for numerous perioperative complications, but how obesity affects the outcome of liver transplantation remains unclear. We compared graft/patient survival after orthotopic liver transpl...
